Babyswap liquidity pools: what LP tokens represent

- last updated

Liquidity provider (LP) tokens represent a share of the paired assets in a BabySwap trading pool. A matching farm can accept those LP tokens for separate BABY rewards while its incentive program is active. The LP token count does not promise fixed underlying token amounts or a fixed return.

Network
BNB Smart Chain (BSC), with BNB needed for network transaction fees.
Website access
DappBay's Red Alarm entry for BabySwap, listed on January 5, 2026, flags an inaccessible website and classifies the application as high risk. This finding does not establish which individual pool or farm contract operations remain usable.

What a pool share includes

An LP token belongs to a particular pair. USDT-ONG LP tokens represent an interest in that pool, distinct from USDT or ONG held directly in a wallet. The pool holds the paired assets, while the LP tokens record the provider's proportional interest in those holdings.

Swaps change the quantities in the pool. The same LP token balance can therefore correspond to different amounts of the two underlying assets over time. The position's dollar value also changes with token prices.

Pairing liquidity with a BABY farm

ONTO Wallet's BabySwap User Guide treats supplying USDT and ONG, staking the resulting LP tokens and harvesting BABY as separate operations. The farm records the staked LP amount; accrued BABY is a separate reward balance.

AirNFTs' guide of September 16, 2021 described AIRT-USDT liquidity and farming : supplying the pair produced LP tokens used in the corresponding BabySwap farm for BABY rewards. That dated description does not establish that the farm's rewards remain active.

The pair matters at both stages. Holding AIRT alone is different from holding AIRT-USDT LP tokens, and a farm for that pair requires the corresponding LP tokens.

Example: Where are the remaining LP tokens?

All amounts in this example are hypothetical: an AIRT-USDT position starts with 83 LP tokens in the wallet and 0 LP tokens staked. Assume a matching BabySwap farm is active, a stake of 57 LP tokens completes and no other LP transfers occur.

The remaining wallet balance is 83 - 57 = 26 LP tokens. The farm records 57 LP tokens staked, so the position is represented by 26 LP tokens in the wallet plus 57 in the farm. The smaller wallet balance reflects the farm deposit; it does not show a redemption of the underlying AIRT and USDT.

Changing the staked amount changes this split without changing the position's total LP token count. These balances alone do not determine the underlying token amounts the pool would return or the BABY rewards accrued.

Harvesting, unstaking and removing liquidity

Harvest BABY
Claims accrued BABY from the documented farm. This is a reward withdrawal, separate from redeeming the pool's paired assets.
Unstake LP tokens
Withdraws the LP tokens from the farm. The tokens still represent the liquidity position until they are redeemed.
Remove liquidity
Redeems LP tokens for their corresponding share of the pair's assets. In the documented separate-action workflow, staked LP tokens must first be unstaked before liquidity is removed.

The ONTO guide places liquidity removal under Liquidity and Your liquidity, using the Remove action. Its farm instructions describe unstaking and harvesting separately.

Token prices and impermanent loss

Impermanent loss compares the value of a liquidity position with holding the original paired assets outside the pool as their relative prices change. It is distinct from a gain or loss against the deposit's initial dollar value: a position can increase in dollar value while still underperforming those original holdings.

BABY farm rewards have their own token value. Whether they compensate for the pool position's underperformance depends on the value of the rewards and the size of that difference. A reward balance alone cannot establish the total return.
